《星际争霸2》:暴雪用14年证明,神作也能被懒死
开场白
Last week, I dug out my old SC2 disc (okay, fine, I downloaded it from Battle.net—who uses discs anymore?) and fired it up. I was ready to channel my inner pro: 12 workers first, expand at 16, macro like a machine. But within five minutes, I was staring at the screen in disbelief.

The UI is still the same clunky mess it was in 2010—no way to save my favorite unit groups, no auto-repair for buildings, and the resource counter is so tiny I have to squint. And don’t get me started on the launcher: it takes forever to load, half the time it crashes, and the “news” section is just ads for Overwatch 2 skins.
Blizzard, did you forget this game exists? Or are you too busy counting loot box money to care? Let’s be clear: SC2 isn’t a “classic” anymore. It’s a relic that’s been left to rot, living on past glory while the rest of the RTS world moves forward.
第一印象:一半是回忆,一半是失望
First look at SC2 in 2024: it’s like meeting an old friend who hasn’t showered in a decade. The cinematic opening of Wings of Liberty still gives me chills—Jim Raynor slamming a beer, growling about Mengsk, the camera panning to the Hyperion. But once you get into the game, the graphics hit you like a brick.

Textures are blurry, lighting is flat, and character models look like they’re from a PS3 game. Don’t get me wrong—the art style is still iconic: Protoss buildings glow with that ethereal blue, Zerg hives pulse with organic slime, Terran bases look like they’re held together with duct tape and hope. But technically? It’s ancient. I tried to play on 4K, and the game stuttered so bad I thought my PC was having a seizure. No native support, no scaling options—thanks, Blizzard.
On the bright side: the unit animations are still top-tier. Zerglings scurry with chaotic energy, Marines reload their rifles with a satisfying click, Protoss Stalkers blink with a flash of blue. Those little details still make me smile. But overall? It feels like a game stuck in time.
玩法真相:换皮的SC1,被遗忘的创新
Blizzard marketed SC2 as the “evolution of RTS” back in 2010. But let’s be real—it’s just SC1 with a fresh coat of paint. The three races are still the same: Terran is the jack-of-all-trades, Protoss is the high-tech glass cannon, Zerg is the swarm-and-overwhelm. New units like the Hellbat or Oracle are nice, but they don’t change the core loop: build workers, gather resources, make units, attack.

The campaign modes are the best part. Wings of Liberty has creative missions—like the time-loop level where you have to save Raynor’s team, or the heist mission where you steal a battlecruiser. Heart of the Swarm lets you control Kerrigan and evolve Zerg units (turning Zerglings into acid-spitting monsters? Yes please). But Legacy of the Void feels rushed—short, linear, and the story is a mess (Kerrigan becomes a god? Really?).
Multiplayer? Oh, it’s a disaster. Smurfs are everywhere—you’ll be a Gold player one minute, then get destroyed by a Grandmaster smurf the next. Cheaters use aimbots and map hacks, and Blizzard does nothing to ban them. The custom maps? Remember when SC2 had Dota 2 (yes, it started here) or Tower Defense? Blizzard killed that by moving to their own platform and not supporting third-party modders. Now the custom map section is a graveyard of old, broken mods.
Blizzard’s idea of an “update” is changing the color of a unit’s skin. No new content, no balance patches—nothing. It’s like they threw SC2 into a closet and forgot about it.
美术和音效:唯一的闪光点(大部分)
Art-wise, SC2 still has its moments. The environments are detailed: frozen wastelands of Char, sleek cities of Aiur, the murky swamps of Zerus. Each race’s design is distinct—you can tell a Zerg base from a Protoss one in two seconds. But the graphics are dated. No ray tracing, no dynamic lighting, no 4K support. It’s hard to recommend to new players who are used to Age of Empires 4 or Company of Heroes 3.
Sound? This is where SC2 still shines. The voice acting is legendary: Jim Raynor’s gruff “Let’s roll” still gives me goosebumps, Kerrigan’s menacing “I am the swarm” is iconic, and the Protoss’s ethereal voices are perfect. The sound effects are great too: Zerg hisses, Terran laser blasts, Protoss shield pops—all satisfying. The soundtrack? It’s good, but not as memorable as SC1’s. The main theme is okay, but nothing sticks with you like SC1’s “Terran Theme” or “Zerg Theme”.
But here’s the thing: even the sound is stuck in 2010. No spatial audio, no updated mixing. It’s like Blizzard didn’t bother to touch it.
优点?有的!但太少了
Okay, let’s be fair—SC2 isn’t all bad. Here are the things that still work:

-
Campaign storytelling: Wings of Liberty is a masterclass in RTS campaign design. The missions are varied, the characters are likable, and the story is engaging. You actually care about Raynor and his crew.
-
Unit design: Each race has unique units that feel distinct. Protoss Stalkers blink, Zerg Banelings explode, Terran Ghosts snipe and nuke—these units add depth to the gameplay.
-
Competitive depth: If you’re into competitive RTS, SC2 has one of the highest skill ceilings. You need to master macro (resources/production), micro (unit control), and map awareness. It’s a true test of skill.
-
Mod support: Even though Blizzard messed up custom maps, there are still great mods. The “StarCraft: Remastered” mod makes the game look better, and some campaign mods add new missions and stories.
But these优点 are overshadowed by the game’s flaws.
缺点!更多!让我数给你看
Where do I start? Let’s list the worst ones:

-
No QoL updates: SC2 is missing basic features every modern RTS has. No auto-save for unit groups, no quick-switch between bases, no resource alerts (like when you

No QoL updates: SC2 is missing basic features every modern RTS has. No auto-save for hotkeys (so if you close the game, you have to re-set all your unit groups). No quick repair for buildings—you have to select SCVs one by one and click "repair" like it’s 2000. No resource alerts (you’ll suddenly realize you’re out of minerals because the game doesn’t tell you until it’s too late). Even Age of Empires 2 (a 25-year-old game!) has better QoL features now.
-
Blizzard’s complete neglect: The last major balance patch was in October 2021. Since then? Crickets. No fixes for the bug where your units get stuck on terrain. No updates to the map pool (most maps are 5+ years old). No new content—no campaign, no new units, nothing. Blizzard’s devs are too busy milking Overwatch 2’s battle pass or Diablo 4’s microtransactions to care about their once-prized RTS.
-
Smurfs and cheaters run wild: Multiplayer is a joke. I queued for three casual games last night—all three had smurfs. One guy was a Grandmaster player using a Bronze account, steamrolling my Terran base with a 6-pool Zerg rush before I even built my first barracks. Cheaters are everywhere too: map hacks that let them see your entire base, aimbots that one-shot your Ghosts. Blizzard’s anti-cheat system is so bad it might as well not exist—reports go into a black hole, and cheaters keep coming back.
-
UI from the stone age: The UI is clunky, unresponsive, and impossible for new players to figure out. Want to set up hotkeys? Good luck—you have to dig through three menus. The minimap is tiny, so you’ll miss enemy attacks until it’s too late. The resource counters are so small you have to squint at your screen mid-battle. Even after 14 years, Blizzard hasn’t bothered to make it user-friendly.
-
Cash grabs instead of content: The only "new" things Blizzard adds are overpriced skin packs (like $15 for a new look for your Marines) and temporary event modes that disappear after a week. No new campaigns, no new races—just ways to take your money without giving anything back. It’s a slap in the face to the fans who supported this game for years.
购买建议
Who should buy SC2? Only two groups:

- Nostalgia freaks: If you played SC1 as a kid and want to relive the glory days, the campaigns are still worth it (especially Wings of Liberty). But wait for a sale—don’t pay full price.
- Hardcore RTS diehards: If you’re into competitive play and don’t mind the smurfs/cheaters, the skill ceiling is still high. But be prepared to grind for hours to get good.
Who should run away?
- New players: The UI is too confusing, and multiplayer is a toxic mess. Go play Age of Empires 4 or Company of Heroes 3 instead—they’re modern, well-supported, and fun.
- Casual players: Multiplayer is not for you. The campaigns are good, but there are better single-player RTS games out there (like Homeworld 3 or Total War: Warhammer 3).
- Anyone who wants active support: Blizzard has abandoned SC2. Don’t waste your money on a game that’s not getting updates.
When to buy? Only when it’s on a deep discount—like 75% off (which happens often on Steam or Battle.net). The full price ($40 for the complete edition) is way too much for a game that’s been neglected for years.

结语
SC2 was once a masterpiece. It was the RTS that defined a generation, the game that made esports mainstream. But now? It’s a relic—abandoned by its creators, overrun by cheaters, and stuck in time. Blizzard had the chance to keep it alive, but they chose to chase easy money instead.

If you’re thinking about buying SC2, ask yourself: do you want to play a game that’s loved, or one that’s been left to rot? For most people, the answer is clear. SC2’s glory days are over. It’s time to let it rest.
And to Blizzard: thanks for killing the game that made me fall in love with RTS. Next time, don’t promise the moon if you’re just going to leave it in the dust.
